I started in media relations for Johnson & Johnson some 20 years ago, navigating through seismic changes in the communications world over that time. Now I sense another watershed moment in the form and substance of new social media. Never imagined the concept of a blog when I started my career as a reporter for The Home News, a daily newspaper in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Between my time at the newspaper and Johnson & Johnson, I spent a few years in the public affairs group of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

I have been communicating professionally in one form or another for the past 16 years, mostly in the health care industry. My experiences span public relations, advertising, corporate and marketing communications, and interactive marketing and media. I work in Corporate Communications at Johnson & Johnson, supporting the company’s Contributions team and my group’s work on public-facing communications, primarily the company’s website.

After more than a decade talking about the tech world of AT&T and Lucent, I entered the health care industry in 2006 and joined Johnson & Johnson’s Corporate communications team at the beginning of 2007. I work on the media relations team at J&J HQ, focusing on financial and business development issues, and look forward to delving more deeply into the blogging world as we go.

I spent 5 years as a publicist in the publishing industry before becoming acquainted with Johnson & Johnson as a Rutgers University communication graduate fellow. During my time as a Rutgers fellow I worked on communications with the Corporate Contributions department in the U.S. and the CSR Europe & Middle East team based in Brussels, Belgium.
